RAWALPINDI: Babar Azam’s run out was a telling blow to Peshawar Zalmi’s chances of overhauling a tough target set by Islamabad United, opined Aamer Jamal during the media talk.

The all-rounder who set the Pindi Stadium ablaze with a powerful 87, said that Zalmi got off the track very early more due to the early exit of Babar. “I think that was a big jolt to Zalmi’s chances to chase down the target. Babar is our key player and as such his run out early in the innings came hard on the team’s plan.”

Aamer also praised Naseem Shah for bowling brilliantly upfront. “He is one bowler in the team who knows how to use the new ball. His swing and carry created trouble as Zalmi lost some quick wickets.”

On his own contribution that saw him cracking six towering sixes on his way to get 87 in a losing cause, Aamer said he wanted to carry the team to win but due to lack of support from the other end, he could not do it.

“I always try to put in my best efforts and yet again when I was given a chance, I tried my best to keep the team in the hunt.” Aamer added that playing Test cricket is far tougher in comparison with the T20.

“When you can perform in tough situations like I did in Australia, giving your best in T20 cricket does not trouble you. I am ready to perform in any format and at any level to the best of my abilities.”

Hunain Shah of Islamabad United also spoke on the occasion, saying that he was eager to earn a place in the national team. “I am delighted with my performance today. I learnt it from Naseem Shah as to how to bowl and what kind of line and length should be maintained on this wicket. That element helped me keep the opposition in check.”
