talkSPORT betting tips – Best football bets and expert advice for 29 February

The FA Cup has taken centre stage in domestic football this week and there are more intriguing cup clashes from across the continent on Thursday.

Atletico Madrid face Athletic Bilbao in the second leg of their Copa Del Rey semi-final, while there is a blockbuster Taca de Portugal tie between the top two in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, Benfica and Sporting.

Bet of the day

Young Boys to beat Sion and both teams to score – 12/5

Young Boys suffered a setback in their Swiss Super League title bid at the weekend as they were beaten 1-0 by nearest rivals Servette, cutting their lead at the top of the table to four points.

They next visit second-tier Sion in the Swiss Cup quarter-finals looking to continue their push for a domestic double.

Sion were relegated last season but have made light work of the Swiss Challenge League, opening up a seven-point lead after winning 15 of their opening 23 matches.

Young Boys have won six of the last seven meetings between these two and should be able to repeat the trick, but it may be worth siding with the hosts to get on the scoresheet, too.

Sion have scored in 21 of their last 22 matches in all competitions and both teams have found the net in four of the last seven meetings between these two.

With a Young Boys side reeling from being knocked out of the Europa League by Sporting Lisbon last week and losing to their title rivals on Sunday, Sion should be able to grab a goal, albeit in defeat.

Special of the day

Bet Builder – Atletico Madrid to win, under 2.5 goals and both teams to score ‘No’ – 9/2

Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid are separated by just three points in the La Liga table and there was not much to split them when they met in the first leg of their Copa Del Rey semi-final.

Bilbao produced a smash-and-grab-away performance, losing the shot count 20-9 but netting a 25th-minute penalty to hold the advantage coming into this matchup.

However, Atleti could repeat the trick and secure a low-scoring win to keep themselves in the competition.

Three of Diego Simeone’s men’s last five games have finished 1-0 and another one is not out of the question here, although a 2-0 success to get them through in normal time is also a candidate, as the teams battle it out to face Mallorca in the final.

Long shot of the day

Benfica to beat Sporting – 13/5

Benfica are unbeaten in the last four meetings between them and title rivals Sporting and they look the value selection to win Thursday’s cup tie.

The visitors are two points clear of their hosts in the Portuguese top flight and they can land a key psychological blow with a win here against a Sporting side that were held to a 3-3 draw by Rio Ave at the weekend.
