Andaz Apna Apna Director Confirms Salman-Aamir Khan’s Feud While Filming; ‘Salman Bechaare 10-11 Baje Tak Aate’

Director Rajkumar Santoshi confirmed that Bollywood superstars Aamir Khan and Salman Khan shared a strained relationship while filming the 1994 hit film Andaz Apna Apna. Both the actors are known for different working styles and approach to acting. Hence, it comes as no surprise that the two did not get along while filming the movie.

During an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Rajkumar Santoshi addressed the rumours and hinted that Salman Khan’s tardiness could have added to the strain. ”I have seen it happen in front of my eyes. Many times things would happen. Salman is Salman and Aamir is Aamir. I won’t blame anyone for it,” the director confirmed.

However, he also admitted that he would resolve things between the two by acting as a ‘bridge’ between them. Moreover, he was also Salman Khan’s childhood friend which helped his case.

Rajkumar Santoshi revealed, ”Aamir would reach the Mud Island bungalow at 7-7.30 in the morning when call time used to be 9 am. Salman bechaare 10-11 baje tak aa hi jaate the”. Both the actors were staying in Bandra at the time. The director defended Salman Khan by pointing out Mumbai’s traffic.

Despite the differences in their working method, the director believed their performances were top notch. Having said that, Rajkumar Santoshi also confirmed that Salman Khan and Aamir Khan never ‘confronted’ each other in front of everyone.

Andaz Apna Apna failed to attract an audience at the cinema leading to its commercial failure. However, the film gained a cult following over the years.
